Creative Session with Melanie Bess
Painting A Moonlit Dreamscape
In this session, we’ll blend and layer several of Melanie’s favorite materials—neocolors, watercolor pencils, watercolor, colored pencils, and gouache—to paint a magical moonlit dreamscape. Students are welcome to incorporate any other media they love, including alcohol markers, as Melanie will briefly discuss how she uses them in different artworks. The centerpiece will be a personalized cairn (rock stack), allowing for meaningful details like hand lettering or symbols. Melanie will guide you through her full creative process from start to finish, with an option to simplify the project by painting/coloring just the cairn. The line art and a coloring page will be available for download so you can jump right into painting and/or coloring!
