A Little Tale with Toni Burt
In this gentle and imaginative class, we’ll create a magical scene featuring a dreamy girl, a whimsical bird, and a delicate cage – each element a symbol open to your own interpretation: freedom, longing, transformation, or the magic of imagination itself.
We’ll begin with graphite sketching to lay down the foundations of our girl and her feathered companion, focusing on soft lines and expressive features. From there, we’ll bring our scene to life with delicate watercolours, adding light, shadow, and mood. Finally, we’ll infuse the piece with texture and story using collage – layering papers, patterns, or even meaningful words to add depth and enchantment.

About Toni Burt:
Toni is a mixed media artist living in Queensland, Australia. She describes her art style as spontaneous and messy, full of emotion and charm. Her passion for colour and various media often informs her choice of subject and genre. She is constantly exploring new and fresh ideas. She loves to scribble and splash paint around and develop techniques and processes to expand her creative self.
Toni studied Interior Design at university and credits that time for her passion and understanding of colour. As a lifelong artist, and now in semi-retirement, she has dedicated more time to her practice, including integrating her art into her ceramic pieces. She shares her passion for creativity by teaching others and sharing with her online community.

Hosted by renowned artist and author; Tamara Laporte from Willowing Arts, this course offers a deep dive into the emotional and expressive power of magic and story in art. Each month, you’ll receive two inspiring mixed media art lessons, accompanied by shorter bonus sessions during the filler weeks.
