Finish a journal – Episode 7

By Dan Tanner  |   in art journal  | Tags: art musings , art journal , tamara laporte , Willowing Arts

NEW Episode: Finish A Journal! Yay!!

Did you know that I have heaps and heaps of art journals? And did you know that pretty much NONE of them are fully finished/ filled up? Ha! It kinda breaks my heart when I go through my journals and it’s a mixed bag of ‘beautifully finished pages’ and ‘meh what is going on here?’ pages. 😆😂🤣  – So, in 2020 I decided to challenge myself to finish 2 of my journals and finish them so that I actually liked all the pages. AND; I decided to film the process, yay fun!

The series: ‘Finish A Journal’ was born. I am proud to say, that today I have published episode 7. That might not sound like a lot, but for serious: I never have time and so the fact that I managed 7 is something to celebrate! 🥳

I must say: I’m really enjoying trying to keep up with it even though I don’t often get the chance. I was doing pretty well filling my journals, but someone threw a (very fun) spanner in the works recently! A very very kind student/ follower of mine (Zandra) sent me her Roberson Watercolour Journal (that she had bought off me!) as she knew how sad I was that they were discontinued! How kind of her right? Sooooooo, ehrm, I now have a NEW journal that is officially not allowed to be part of ‘Finish a Journal’ but eeeeehrm, I couldn’t resist, eep!

Find out more about my inner art journal turmoil and dances with my art pages in my latest episode of ‘Finish a Journal’ HERE. And watch me create this new spread:

A therapist once told me that she didn’t think I ‘would’ve made it’ had I not had art in my life. Not sure how helpful it was of her to say that and not sure if that was a correct assessment, but it tells you 2 things: 1. She was struck by the trauma I have experienced and 2. She was aware how powerful making art can be. It is also why I love the attached cartoon so much! 😊
