I Went Live for the First Time!

Dear Dan,

I’m so excited! Two days ago, I did my first “professional” spontaneous live on my youtube channel. 😊 It was so fun!

Since my recent epiphany about wanting to bring more joy, love, connection to the world, I’m hoping to do more live streaming so that we can all be together more in ‘real time’! And so, I tried out a new-to-me streaming software which was pretty user friendly! It means that I can have both my face AND my art on screen AND I can zoom in too because I managed to get my camcorder hooked up to the live stream! This is all a bit complex, but I finally sat down and figured out all the tech! Yay!!! 🥳 🎉 ❤️

There were a few small glitches that I’m going to work out, but it mostly all worked and was super fun! I plan on doing more lives and I will try to stream it to more than one platform at once so that it’s accessible to as many people as possible!

For this live session, I started a little illustration to celebrate the late Matthew Perry whom I adored. He brought great joy to my life in some of the difficult times I’ve been through. I don’t usually do dedications to celebrities, but I really wanted to paint something in honour of Chandler Bing. Such and icon. I’m so sad he’s gone. I imagine him content somewhere happy in the sky. ♥️♥️♥️

In the middle of editing this troll lesson for next week and I was just hit by a wave of calm just gazing upon this super cute little face.

And many of you will know that over the years I`ve made many a innocent little creature and I`ve talked before how creating innocent, sweet characters have a direct calming effect on my nervous system. I don`t mean it metaphorically but biologically. My shoulders drop. My breathing slows. I feel a calm settling in.

Apparently; there’s science behind this: soft, friendly faces trigger oxytocin and parasympathetic responses linked to safety and bonding, while stress hormones drop. ✨🙌✨

But there’s something else too.

These characters don’t want anything. They’re not impressive, persuasive, ironic, or self-serving. They feel like little support characters whose only message is: "I’m here, with you, just sitting, being present for/ with you." ♥️

I think innocence signals something rare in adult life; presence without extraction, without needing something from you. And my body seems to trust that instantly.

I keep making characters like this because they *regulate* me as much as anyone else.

Leaving this here as a quiet reminder that gentleness has a real nervous-system impact.
