We’ll explore how to paint joyful, gentle, and character-filled creatures in watercolour, adding layers of personality with expressive brushwork and charming details.

Creating Cuties Class Schedule

Content will be released weekly for 6 – 7 weeks. 

 

 

 

Week 1. Introduction to Cuties! How do we cutify and adorablefy our animals? Let’s face it; generally animals are super cute as they are already! BUT when we draw them, there are things we can do to make them even more cute and awwwdorable looking! For this first intro session we’ll take a look at what features can make your animal drawings extra super dooper uber cute & pawdorable! 😊 🐾

 

 

 

 

 

 

Week 1. A Very Cute Cow! Bring this fluffy friend to life with warm colours and layered fur. We’ll focus on facial expression, soft textures, and adding bees and butterflies to complete the cheerful meadow scene. 🐮🦋

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Week 2. Butterfly Kisses & Puppy Wishes – This lovable pup has a butterfly perched right on their nose! We’ll explore character design and facial expression, creating a composition full of wonder and joy. 🐶🦋

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Week 3. The Adorable Axolotl. This smiling amphibian friend will help you practise soft blending and gentle shading. We’ll give them expressive eyes, dappled pink skin, and a heart on their shirt! 🫶 Perfect for setting a playful, sweet and cute tone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Week 4. The Curious Baby Octopus. We’ll dive into an undersea adventure as we paint this inquisitive little explorer. You’ll learn how to make the eyes shine and tentacles curl with confidence. And don’t forget his cute little fishie friends!  🐙💫🐠

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Week 5. The Sassy Lady Sloth. Everyone’s favourite slowpoke takes a moment to savour a warm cup of tea. ☕  This lady sloth is a princess in her own right; she wears pearls, a flower crown and loves to have a manicure once in a while! 😉 This class focuses on gentle textures, simple props/ accessories and how to create joyful happy facial expressions. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Week 6. A Super Sweet Kitten in a Woolly Jumper!
Get ready to melt as we paint the cutest little kitten wrapped in a woolly jumper, sitting peacefully under a sparkling night sky. 🌙 In this class, we’ll focus on soft fur textures, gentle shading, and dreamy night-time hues. You’ll learn how to suggest a sense of warmth and coziness with simple brushwork and thoughtful colour choices. This one is pure comfort; like a lullaby in paint form. 🐱🧶✨

Suggested Art Supplies

Please note: you don’t need exactly all the art supplies I use, you can substitute/ replace some with others you already have. 

• 6-10 Sheets of hotpressed watercolour paper – 140lbs (I use Saunders and Waterford, but any good brand will do, other good brands are: Fabriano, Daler-Rowney, Canson). If you want to work on cold pressed that is fine too, but I my personal preference is hotpressed watercolour paper.
• Watercolour paints. I use the brand Schmincke and Daniel Smith. These brands are pricey though, you can start with a student grade brand if you don’t want to invest in an expensive set. Other good brand examples are: Jane Davenport, Paul Rubens, Arteza, Winsor Newton.
• Watercolour paint brushes. I use a mix of brands; Princeton (pricey), Fuumuui (cheaper but lesser quality) and Daler Rowney Aquafine (medium pricing).
• Some Acrylic Inks by Liquitex and/or Daler-Rowney – Optional – if you don’t have these, don’t worry you can use heavy body acrylics instead
• A graphite pencil for drawing and an eraser.
• Black and White acrylic pens by Posca, Sharpie or Artistro.
• Colour pencils for mark making/ some shading
• Stabilo All Pencil in black (and brown optionally)
• Blending Stump
• Optional: watercolour crayons Caran D’ache Neocolor II.
• I also use some Tombow Markers on this course, but they are optional too, if you don’t have them, you can use other coloured markers, or paint.

• This course comes with detailed traceable files  in case you’re worried about drawing, but I also demonstrate how you can draw the designs ‘free hand’.
