Ugly Art, New Art Supplies & a Sweet Kitten
Dear Creative Friend,
So… I did something a bit brave this week. I filmed a full flip-through of my latest art journal and I’m sharing all of it with you. The finished pieces, the half-finished bits, the messy experiments, the “hmm… not sure about that one”, and the pages I nearly glued together so I wouldn’t have to see them again. 😂
I call it my “ugly art”, but only in a playful, tongue-in-cheek way. It’s really just art I wasn’t personally thrilled with at the time. Because deep down, I don’t think there is such a thing as ugly art. Every page, every mark, every attempt is part of the unfolding. A stepping stone. A teacher. A moment of creativity that mattered. Right? ✨🙌✨
And honestly, I wanted to share this because it’s so easy to think everyone else is producing masterpiece after masterpiece… when the truth is, all of us have awkward pages, abandoned ideas, colour choices we regret, and spreads that are still figuring out who they want to be.
Art is a living process, not a performance!
But wait! The video is not just a journal flip-through…

My hope is that it gives you permission to explore, to experiment, to play, to make “not-sure-yet” art, to abandon a page and come back months later, to follow your curiosity rather than your inner critic. Away with you; perfectionism!
Because creativity isn’t about getting it right: It’s about showing up to the page and letting yourself be human. ♥️♥️♥️
