Inner Child Love - Continuing my series ‘A Gentle Return to Social Media’, I wanted to share this painting from 2014, created as part of the beautiful course Radiant Faces by the wonderful Effy Wild. My theme for this lesson was the inner child, and I went all in. 💖
I loved painting this whimsical little girl; I used to call these types of characters my “lollipop girls” because of their big round heads and tiny bodies, creating that extra cute factor. 🙂 🍭
As I’ve mentioned before, one of the most powerful things about art is its ability to heal, especially when it comes to the wounds we carry from childhood. Art can offer a way to express and transform pain that’s not always easy to put into words; sometimes even more effectively than talk therapy.
Working with your inner child through art is such a nourishing, playful, and profound experience. You can let emotions like anger or sadness flow through scribbles, symbols, or expressive sweet characters. Art and creating can also really delight the inner child particularly for those who were told as children ‘they were not good at art’ (argh I hate when I hear people were told that as kids!!) ... ✨
I loved painting this girl, and she still captivates me today. 🌈
